Harvest Moon, pt 11

This is part of a text adventure series to celebrate the spookiest of months, October (and beyond!). Full information about what’s happening can be found here. It is free to read, but in order to vote on what happens next, you will need to be a Patron.  To become a Patron, you can find my Patreon page here.

Your inventory:

  • A small flashlight with dead batteries
  • Nick’s car-related paperwork
  • A generic fast food straw
  • A napkin containing some mushed-up sausage rolls
  • A lighter
  • Half a packet of mints
  • A pen

You leave the reception room to explore the corridor.

The corridor is dark and unlit. There’s enough light coming from the open door of the reception to show you what’s what, something you’re very grateful for. You find yourself wishing that the dead flashlight in your pocket worked.

An imposing grandfather clock at one end of the corridor – to your left – doesn’t help you feel at ease. You the get the sensation that time is slipping away from you although you’re not sure why that is, or why it might be important. There’s a stand with various coats draped over it which might’ve given you a minor heart attack. If you weren’t so brave and adventurous, of course.

There are plenty of doors to choose from. Including the one you came out through, there are seven, plus a set of stairs that lead up to the next floor. Three doors are on the side of the corridor you have come in through. The other four doors are set in the wall opposite.

Ever curious, you give them all a try to find out what’s what. The good news is that five of them – including the reception room door – are openable. Two of them are firmly locked, including the library. Clearly that’s one place the household isn’t inviting errant visitors to investigate. If you want to take a look, you’ll have to think creatively.

Peeking through through cracks in the openable doors you discover: Something that looks like a recreation or games room; an expansive dining room; a kitchen; and the lounge you first saw when looking through the house’s windows.

You are able to update your mental map of the area to reflect the new information.

Where would you like to go next?

  1. The reception room
  2. The gamesroom
  3. The dining room
  4. The kitchen
  5. The lounge
  6. Upstairs

Vote for what happens next on my Patron page before 8pm GMT tomorrow. The next update will be 8pm GMT on the 23rd of October.
